a palette swirling with
hues of yellow, orange and of reds
painted on a canvas of hodgepodge browns
fading honks from above
time for geese to cross the vast blue sky
spurring the lead towards warm more southern towns
rapid rhythmic barks sound
playful squirrels chase, scurry up tall trees
search, hide morsels for the long winter days
eerie foggy mornings
the cold night air blankets the warm Earth
fades away slowly with the sun's warm rays
grinning from ear to ear
jack-o'-lanterns line the front porch
waiting for the trick-or-treat symphony
trees shedding autumn leaves
sad and weepy as if in mourning
with Demeter's loss of her Persephone
