Fall Asleep Already [poems]

Updated: Jan 29, 2021

I can not sleep. Thoughts keep swirling around in my head. Terrible thing when I know I’m working a double tomorrow or today shall I say.

The Beast

Sun’s light slowly sinking

Night’s tentacles reaching

Slithering, sliding darkness

Panic as awareness sets in

Wrapping Squeezing tightly

Gluttonous feeding starts

Such tasty fragile thoughts

Flood neuron fibers nightly

Without day time distractions

Night continues on to feast

Uncontrolled thoughts racing

Sleep only can kill this beast

I wish you (the one looking for me) were here lying beside me. I could snuggle up so close with your arm around me. I would feel safe, secure and protected as your heart beat would lull me back to sleep.

HEART BEAT

Your arm wrapped around me

Pulling me in just a little closer

Resting my head on your chest

I can hear your heart beating

Lub-DUB Lub-DUB Lub-DUB

I cross my left leg over yours

my left arm across your chest

I feel secure in your embrace

Listening to your heart beating

Lub-DUB Lub-DUB Lub-DUB

Peacefulness washes over me

I allow myself to start drifting

Fading into heavenly serenity

Listening to your heart beating
