The Yen in Time [poem]

How many people actually know the value of items in yen? How many yen do you need to buy a gallon of milk? No clue. But we have a feel for our own currency. I, therefore, know approximately how many dollars I need to buy that milk. Some how this knowing was not bestowed on me in regards to time. I lack the feeling for time. Time is like the yen.

TIME

Infinite, linear, and never does it repeat

Indeterminate yet experienced as limited

Culprit of aging, modern medicine’s gift

Disregarded by youth, cherished by old

Taken for granted, valued by the terminal

Easily given away and too easily wasted

Never retractable and its worth ....

Invaluable
