Toasty Warm [poetry]

Updated: Jan 29, 2021

Nothing like a warm fire after a walk in nature on a cold Minnesota winter day.

FIRE

spreading to the tips of the daily news

quickly leaping, clinging to dry timber

turning the teepee into a roaring blaze

ready to consume and feed its hunger

sizzling, crackling, sputtering, roaring

suddenly a loud pop releasing steam

with the wind as his true companion

engulfs and greedily devours all given

sizzling, crackling, sputtering, poping

the feasting and sounds begin to slow

left in his wake is a radiating warmth

with glowing ambers of orange hues
